Tiger Salamander
Ambystoma tigrinum
Check out this adorable Tiger Salamander. This one loves hanging out in the cool water control box here at Los Luceros Historic Site! Though this one is pretty small they can get up to 6 inches and have a lifespan of 12-15 years! It is the most common of the three salamander species in New Mexico.
Our Tiger Salamander friend has a toad buddy. They are often found in very close proximity to one another.
The tiger salamander has grown over the years and is now much bigger this year than he was in 2020.
Can you find Salamander's toad friend in this photo?
