Fort Fun Day at Fort Stanton

At Fort Stanton Historic Site
5/3/26, Sunday
10:00am - 3:00pm

Fort Stanton

Fort Fun Days give visitors the chance to learn new things about the site’s history. A flag raising ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. to start the day. Take a guided tour of the site with staff at 11 a.m. Join a presentation in the museum at 1 p.m. with Talrick Enjady, a Mescalero/Chiricahua Apache artist, who will talk about his artwork and process. Born and raised on the Mescalero Apache Reservation, Enjady first became interested in art in middle school, especially traditional Native American art. “Wow you can tell a whole story in a piece of art,” Enjady remembers thinking, right before he started drawing on anything he could get his hands on. Strong support from his community and family has been very important to him. After the presentation, explore the site, then watch the flag lowering at 2:45 p.m.

Admission to the site and activities is FREE to New Mexico residents on First Sunday, as well as to children 16 and younger, NM disabled veterans, NM foster families, Fort Stanton, Inc. members, and MNMF members. Admission for non-residents is $7 for adults.
