Art with Us: Celebrating the Craft of Papier-Mache
At Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site
2/21/26, Saturday
12:00pm - 1:30pm
Join us at Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site for a program that will teach you about techniques used for creating art with the popular material made of paper and glue known as papier-mâché. Ranger Daniel will discuss the work of artists in the Southwest and Latin America who use papier-mâché to produce elaborate sculptures, expressive masks, and fantastical creatures known as alebrijes. You will see stunning examples of folk art in the site’s collection while learning about how papier-mâché became a part of regional traditions and cultural celebrations. Participants will receive a kit with instructions and supplies for creating your own original piece of art.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children 16 and younger. Purchase online at https://my.nmculture.org/44499/53587.
