Join Gabriela Silva Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area for a workshop held at Los Luceros where you will learn about the cultural healing practice that dates back millenea in New Mexico.

Creating locally sourced remedios, or herbal remedies, in New Mexico involves embracing the state’s rich traditions of herbal medicine, particularly the practice of curanderismo—a holistic approach to healing that integrates physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

In this first workshop of a two-part series, students will be introduced to local herbs and learn how to identify, understand, appreciate, and make remedios with the abundance of locally foraged healing herbs available at Los Luceros. Students will then learn to prepare eye washes, salves, poultices, and tinctures. Information, materials, and local herbs will be provided. The Remedios Part II workshop will be offered on December 6, 2025. These workshops are for ages 18 and older. Each workshop is $50 per person.
