Lincoln Lecture Series: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife of Lincoln County

At Lincoln Historic Site
10/4/25, Saturday
1:00pm - 2:00pm

Lincoln Historic Site

Join the last Lincoln Lecture Series of the year, which takes place in the iconic San Juan Bautista Church. This month’s program is by Fort Stanton and Lincoln Interpretive Ranger Amy Hoffman who will present the topic, "How Did We Get Here? Endangered and Threatened Wildlife around Lincoln County."

There are many endangered and threatened wildlife species in and around Lincoln County, New Mexico, including notable plants, fish, birds, and the recently added Peñasco Least Chipmunk (Neotamias minimus atristriatus). Hoffman will discuss why several of these species are now protected and some of their unique qualities and behaviors. Also, she will explore the important role they play within our ecosystem, why it continues to be crucial to protect these species, and ways to restore past landscapes. Amy Hoffman is an Interpretive Ranger at Fort Stanton and Lincoln Historic Sites. She has a Master of Science in Applied Geography (Zooarchaeology) and a Master of Science in Environmental Science. She taught for a decade in several community colleges in North Texas before moving out to New Mexico.

Lincoln Lecture Series is included with admission of $7/adults and free to children 16 years and younger, NM disabled veterans, NM foster families, and members of MNMF and Friends of Lincoln.
