3. THE PLAZA

This area is known as the plaza. The area is flat and open, surrounded by room-blocks and kivas. This is the center of activity, where the villagers conducted their daily business including: preparing food, making clothes, socializing, and dancing.

This plaza was surrounded by about 600 rooms; estimates of how many people lived here could have a very wide range since we do not know how many people were living in any single room block.

Did you know?

Giusewa wasn't even the largest village in the Jemez Valley? There were others that more than doubled the size of this site.
