First Sunday: Cotton
At Coronado Historic Site
10/5/25, Sunday
10:00am - 1:00pm
Join Coronado Historic Site each month for family-friendly programming on a variety of topics. This month, learn how the people of Kuaua Pueblo grew, spun, and wove cotton to create garments like mantas, kilts, and rain sashes. Pueblo artist Louie García (Chicano and Piro, Socorro del Sur Pueblo) will be demonstrating traditional methods for spinning and weaving cotton fiber. Visitors will also see cotton plants growing in our demonstration garden and participate in an activity tie-dyeing cotton bandannas with natural plant dyes.
The program is free to NM residents and children 16 and younger. Non-residents are $7 for adults.
