Park Day Celebrating Fort Stanton’s 170th Anniversary
At Fort Stanton Historic Site
5/3/25, Saturday
9:00am - 1:00pm
Fort Stanton turns 170 this year, and the site needs volunteer help sprucing up for the anniversary, and to preserve the site for generations to come. Volunteers are invited to come out and participate in a trail clean-up, improving the walking paths around the historic German Internment Camp to keep them beautiful and accessible to everyone. Fort Stanton is one of the most intact forts still standing in New Mexico, having served as a Civil War and Territorial garrison, as well as an internment camp during World War II and a tuberculosis hospital. Volunteers should wear appropriate clothing, shoes, and a hat, and bring plenty of drinking water to stay hydrated.
