Hatchet: Outdoor Survival Discussion
At Fort Selden Historic Site
5/17/25, Saturday
10:00am - 11:00am
Join Fort Selden’s Ranger Mike for a discussion and demonstration of basic outdoor survival techniques inspired by the book Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen. Did you know that the author, Gary Paulsen, lived in Tularosa, NM? Ranger Mike will also connect these survival skills to the challenges soldiers at Fort Selden endured while out on patrol. Feel free to bring your own copy of Hatchet to follow along, as Ranger Mike will be reading various passages from the book and providing his own personal experience in outdoor survival.
This program is included as part of general admission of $5 per adult. Free for children 16 years and younger, NM disabled veterans, NM foster families, and MNMF members.
