Watch history come alive in these monthly programs. Watch a flag raising Ceremony at 10 a.m., take a tour of the internment camp at 11 a.m., and listen to special guest lecturer Christopher Ardent, an interpretive ranger at Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument, give a presentation about astronomy entitled “Celestial Navigation and the Age of Discovery” in the chapel at 1 p.m. Ardent will explore celestial navigation, focusing on the technologies and methods employed by early explorers from the 1200s to the present, with demonstrations of technology using living history models. He will also highlight notable explorers from the Age of Exploration and Discovery to some of the global powers and influences from that period in history.
Admission to the site and activities is $7 for adults. Admission is free to children 16 and younger, Native/Tribal Affiliations, NM disabled veterans, NM foster families, and MNMF members.
