Interpretive Ranger Kara will discuss the history and effects of the Taos Revolt and Los Luceros’ connection to that significant time. As the US began entering New Mexico’s borders in 1846, the people living in Northern New Mexico took action. A failed December coup in Santa Fe led to a revolt beginning in Taos in January of 1847. Los Luceros’ involvement in the Taos Revolt may be surprising to some, but the area birthed revolutionaries like Diego Archuleta and was also the home of other participants like Antonio Maria Trujillo. Visitors can learn more at this presentation, which will be held in the community room and is included with admission of $7/adults and free to NM Seniors and children 16 years and younger.
