Camp Info

Who says history can’t be fun?! Children will learn fun and engaging Northern New Mexico history and culture at this summer camp. Each day will be themed with a different area of Los Lucero’s history. We’ll explore archaeology, make art, learn hands-on acequia water management, participate in farm and ranch activities, and hang out with the resident Navajo Churro sheep, donkeys, and goats. Students should be prepared for both indoor and outdoor activites.

This camp is guided by seasoned educators with current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, ensuring a safe environment for every camper. Our experienced team designs camps that holistically address each participant’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being, fostering a transformative and enriching summer experience.

The camp meets daily, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campers must be dropped off at Los Luceros Historic Site between 8:45 and 9 a.m. and picked up between 4 and 4:15 p.m. each day. Participants must be entering grades 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 in fall 2024.

Scholarships are available upon request and provided by the Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area.

Camp is $100 per student. Register by contacting Los Luceros Educator, Rebecca Ward, at 505-470-0675 or Rebecca.ward@dca.nm.gov.
