Sunrise Over the Ruins at Fort Selden
At Fort Selden Historic Site
7/6/24, Saturday
6:00am - 7:00pm
Join Fort Selden Historic Site staff to see the sunrise over the historic ruins and the Robledo Mountains. The site will open at 6 a.m. for birding, photography, painting, wildlife viewing, and the cool, fresh morning air. Staff will provide a guided tour of the Fort Selden ruins at 9 a.m. and then at 11 a.m. come inside the Fort Selden Museum for a lecture on rattlesnakes. What makes the rattlesnake rattle? This lecture will highlight distinguishing features of rattlesnakes in New Mexico and the where, why, and how should you spot one. After the lecture, please join staff at the Pavilion outside where there will be an outdoor cooking demonstration on making a fun side dish we are calling “Rattlesnake Eggs.” This dish is a play on jalapeño poppers with a New Mexican twist.
All programming on this day is included as part of general admission of $5/adult. Free for children 16 years and younger. Please call 575-526-8911 for more information.
