Los Luceros Historic Site

Behind The Scenes Tours

Coronavirus Update 3/15/20

All Department of Cultural Affairs museums and historic sites, including this facility, are temporarily closed to the public as a public health precaution due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus). These closures are part of the larger effort by state government to minimize public exposure. Please continue to visit this website for updates and to explore online resources and collections.

Ever wonder “what is behind that door?”

“where does this stairway lead?”

or “are there really faces in the trees?”

Our behind the scenes tours are a unique way to experience the magic and mystery of Los Luceros Historic Site. Led by NM Historic Sites Staff, they explore the Hacienda, Capilla (Chapel), as well as:

  • Barns and Heritage Farm (In addition to goats, sheep, donkeys, and chickens, we have several lambs that were born this winter)
  • Balcony of the Hacienda
  • Storehouse/Jail Interior
  • Artifact Vault (this room houses some of the most valuable artifacts from the Hacienda)
  • Hacienda Gardens
  • Exterior of the Chabot House and Gardens
  • Mary Wheelwright themed tea in the River House overlooking the Río Grande
  • Short Bosque Walk (with hidden tree carvings, hot springs, and historic corral)

The Behind the Scenes Tours of Los Luceros are a fundraiser for educational programming at Los Luceros Historic Site.
