This area is known as the plaza. The area is flat and open, surrounded by room-blocks and kivas. This is the center of activity, where the villagers conducted their daily business including: preparing food, making clothes, socializing, and dancing.
This plaza was surrounded by about 600 rooms; estimates of how many people lived here could have a very wide range since we do not know how many people were living in any single room block.
