History on Horseback
At Fort Stanton Historic Site

BYOH - Bring Your Own Horse
Take part in a unique experience not available anywhere else in the country. Led by a historically uniformed guide, riders will be entertained by the history of Fort Stanton and a demonstration of soldiers’ horse skills. Put your horsemanship skills to the test as you’re immersed in the intricacies of military drill on horseback. Afterwards, enjoy a tour of the fort and then a trail ride in some of Fort Stanton’s most scenic back country.
Details
Total time investment for this unique activity is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Riders will be required to provide their own horses, equipment and transportation.
Riders and horses assemble on the old Army drill field across from the historic fort stables. Reservations are required for this endeavor and the cost is $25 per rider.
Tour begins at 10:00am.
