Sanatoriums of New Mexico Book Talk
At Lincoln Historic Site
9/13/14, Saturday
2:00pm
In the early twentieth century, tuberculosis was the number-one killer in the United States. New Mexico’s (and Lincoln County’s) clean, dry, fresh air, high altitude, and sunshine provided relief for many patients. The village of Lincoln and Fort Stanton had TB sanatoriums which provided relief and treatment for patients. An original hut from Dr. J. W. Laws’s sanatorium is on display at Lincoln Historic Site. Dr. Richard Melzer will talk about his new book, Sanatoriums of New Mexico in the Visitor Center at Lincoln Historic Site.
Free with admission to the Historic Site. For more information call (575) 653-4372.
